The Year of The T-Rex!
August 22, 2011
Hudson,
When this year passes, Daddy and I will be able to sum it up in two words to describe you - T-REX, aka Tyrannosaurus Rex. Hudson, a metamorphosis has happened within you - you are now a T-Rex and not a human being. Where did my baby go? You can literally emulate this 60 million year old angry fossil to a tee. It's a bit frightening, but also rather funny. You know everything about it. If there is a dinosaur that looks similar to the T Rex, you will explain quite logically, "No Mamma, that is not a T-Rex, it has three claws and T Rex's don't have those spikes there (while pointing to an area on the dino's body)." OK, thank you Hudson for explaining that to me.
When you are acting like T-Rex, you literally put your hands close to your belly, holding them close together, to make them smaller, you put two claws out on each hand and you prance like a T Rex. When you read this as an adult, just watch the T Rex in Jurassic park - you can walk just like that T-Rex! You roar loud and we have to say, "No roaring," half the time - when family comes over or we go to a restaurant. When you get really mad, sad, or upset because you can't have something, you go into T Rex mode. Sometimes you just pull it out randomly around people or kids, with a loud roar, and we are like, "He's in a dinosaur phase, what can we tell you?!"
I am not sure what all this means. The T Rex may be your psuedo-self, or your trapped anger coming out in the form of a roar and T-Rex prance! Whatever it is, you have passion for this dinosaur. You love all dinosaurs and have now for the whole year. The T Rex, though, he is your favorite and you are well aware that he is a meat eater and not the nicest of all dinosaurs.
I love you my T REX! YOU ARE MY T REX!!! xoxoxo Mamma
Fun Facts about T Rex:
-Tyrannosaurus means "tyrant lizard king."
-It was 40 feet long
-It was 15-20 feet high
-It weighed 5-7 tons
-Lived in the late Cretaceous Period - about 85-65 million years ago
-Fossil remains were found in the USA (including Texas), Canada and East Asia
-T Rex's arms were only about 3 feet long
-It was one of the largest carnivores in its environment
ROAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
p.s. ask your Siti about my obsession with The Incredible Hulk when I was younger - how I use to make the face and roar like he did... HA!
p.s.s. For later use - Probably not the most gentlemanly thing to do when trying to ask a girl out- roaring at her... Let's leave the roaring for this toddler phase of your life. HAHAHAHA. I love you!
You can emulate the T Rex to perfection. It's crazy. You walk around like this a lot, even at the beach in Rockaway, NY.

I love you to the Couch....
August 16, 2011
Hudson,
My heart just melts when you say things. It's like the sun is shining brightly on me. So, I was putting you to bed - we said our prayers, we kissed and hugged and we always talk after. We either talk about how we are going to meet in our dreams - usually at the beach, which I have blogged about before. Tonight, we talked about how much we love one another. I will stretch my arms out and say, "I love you so much, I can't stretch my arms out far enough," and you will say the same and stretch your arms out. Then, I will say, "I love you all the way to the moon and the outer galaxies." You said to me tonight, "I love you all the way to the moon, outer space and to erf (Earth)." Is that ths sweetest thing alive? How do you even know these things? Then, you said, "I love you to the cowds." I said, "To the couch?" You thought it was hilarious. You laughed so hard, an intoxicating laugh, and I was laughing hard too. You said, " To the cowds Mamma!" I said, "You love me to the couch?" We were both laughing so hard. Then, I said, "Oh, the clouds. You love me to the clouds." Such a special moment. Brings tears to my eyes. God, I love you Hudson, my Hud, my heart, amore mio, mi amor, my love, vita mia....

It's 95 Degrees - Yay!
August 11, 2011
So, Dallas is a basically a desert in the summer. We have had almost 40 days of 100 degree temperature or higher. This was some kind of a record. Needless to say, we can't go outside much unless we go to the pool. The last week was 107, 108, 110, 111. Crazy hot and no fun to be outside. It's like opening an over door and sticking your head in.
So, it was 95 degrees today and it was like a cool wave had blown through. People were out walking, which I haven't seen in months. We went to the park, which we haven't done in months. You climbed on top of the tunnel. You are so much bigger bow. I remember when you were just a baby trying to get up on that jungle gym and I'd help you, and now, you are a little monkey. You were so proud. You climb everything! Of course you had to climb on top of it instead of it (you always take the road less traveled by). You liked the challenge. The last time we were there, you could not do it, but the bigger boys were and you remembered.
We came home and played with Gracie and Codi in the backyard. You and Gracie had a little tug of war game! The question is - is it sad when you are happy it's 95 degrees outside? Haha. We had a great time!
I love you, Mamma

The Greatest Head of Hair - Why do We Have to Cut it?
August 10, 2011
Hudson,
Your hair is super long and I LOVE IT! We all do. You really have one fine head of hair little boy. You have always had a lot - just like your Daddy, who also has beautiful hair (and so does his Daddy, your Big John). Your hair grew in quickly around 5 to 6 months and that was all she wrote. You had a head full of head for your 18 month photos and you looked 3 already. You have always looked like a little man and your hair is part of the reason.
I didn't want to cut it, but I figured you needed a little trim before school and your bangs were getting in your eyes. We always go to the Stride Rite Hair salon and Ms Mechelle always cuts it. The first year, you did not like going. You had to sit in my lap and you would not wear a smock whatsoever Now, just look at you, you are such a big boy. You sit there with your smock and let her do her job. The Scooby Doo show that you were watching helped. You know exactly where the sucker drawer is too, and you walk right over to it when you are done.
Here's to your beautiful head of hair that you will really love one day...

Mamma Gets to Go Out!
August 10, 2011
Daddy is in NYC this week for work. I went out with my dear friend, Laura on Wednesday night. We went to Victor Tangos and had red wine and a yummy dinner. It was so fun! It was nice to have some girl time and a few glasses of my favorite, Pinot Noir.
Mamma doesn't go out often, but it is very good for me when I do! You don't like me to do anything my love. I had to go to my Uncle Wendell's funeral in Tulsa a few weeks ago and you didn't like it so much. It's not like I go out of town alone often! We were eating dinner tonight and you randomly said, "I don't like when Mamma leaves. I don't like when Mamma travels alone." My baby. I think you would just like me to be a slave to you and never leave. I love you for that my love and being with you is my favorite place to be. However, one day, you will leave me, so I think I should keep a little of my life going. Smile. I love you! Mamma

Hudson and Coco Hanging...
8-15-11
Today, we met Ms Rachel, Coco and baby Vivian at the mall for lunch. You and Coco were so excited to see one another. You two were down right precious. You all were holding hands and hugging non stop. At one point, you had your arm around her like a little brut - you kind of put it around her and grabbed a little. Sweet, dainty Coco said, "Ouch," but it was so cute! You sure are going to be a heartbreaker Hudson. You like the girls and they like you. What am I going to do??
Coco will be going to a different school now - The Lamplighter School - and you will be starting St. Alcuin, but Ms Rachel and I hope to keep you all in touch. You get along so well. We will miss Saint Michael, our class there and we will miss definitely miss seeing Coco and Ms Rachel every Monday and Wednesday morning.
I love you little Don Juan.... Mamma xoxox

Hudson from the Bronx - We love the Way You Talk
August 7, 2011
Hudson,
Your voice is the cutest thing ever. I want to freeze time because I want you to talk like that forever! You have kind of a Bronx accent and we love it! "Ovah dare Mamma." Plus, it's kind of raspy. Boy oh Boy is it sweet. You sing the prayer before dinner and it might be the cutest thing I have ever heard: "God our Fadah, God our Fadah. Once again, Once again. We are here to faynk You, we are here to faynk You. God Amen, God Amen." Here are some precious things that you say:
Top it! (Stop it)
Yember (Remember)
Merriel (Merrill)
Aunt Tefie (Aunt Stephie)
Shanna (Aunt Shannon)
Wes-uh-ley (Wesley)
esterday (yesterday)
yite (light)
wa-tuh (water)
tuh-pie-z - surprise

I'm Going to Grow up fast Mamma...
August 2, 2011
Hudson,
You told me today, "I'm going to grow up fast Mamma." With that sentence, I wanted to cry. I know how true it is Hudson. I just want to freeze time. You are so precious, so sweet, so pure, so innocent. An that perfect, precious body of yours! Can't we just bronze it so I can always grab that sweet little teaso?
Hudson, nothing could be more true than this quote, "Youth is wasted on the young." Young people have no clue how amazing it is to be young until it is too late. Not until you are 25 and you think, "Oh, wow, I am closer to 30. Dam! I don't want to be 30. I want to be young forever." It's quite fascinating to me that young kids just want to get older and adults just want to be younger. What's up with that?
Please enjoy your youth Hudson. These are the days to hold onto. They will not last forever. You only get to be young once. These days are carefree. You do not have pressing responsibilities. Don't grow up too fast and always stay young at heart: this is the secret to life.
Heck, I will always be 22 at heart. I am 36, but I still feel 22.... such is life.
I love you handsome, Mamma

Not the next time or the time after that...

You are something else Hudson Squires! There is a slide at the University Park swimming pool. It's a big slide with twists and turns. I ask you every time we go to the pool, "Do you want to go down the slide with me?" Every time, you say, "No." You are not ready and it is OK. You do things in life when you are ready Hudson. You cannot force things.
So, the other day, we were at the pool and I said, "You want to go on the slide with me?" You said no of course. I said, "Ok, Maybe next time." You said, "Not next time, or the next time or the next time or the next time after that. Not Monday, not Tuesday, not Wednesday, not Thursday." I laughed so hard. Oh I love you Hudson!
YES you did say this! You did! Too much you are Hudson squires. You are like a little man. One thing is for sure, you know what you want. I LOVE THIS ABOUT YOU and so will others. Keep that trait.
I love you amore mio, Mamma
