Ms. Elizabeth & Ms. Barlow...

September 19, 2011

So, you are going to Saint Alcuin Montessori school now. You went to Saint Michael last year and your teacher was Ms. Elizabeth. Ms. Elizabeth was youthful and fun. She has long flowing blonde hair. You loved her and had a crush on her at the age of 2! Now, your teacher's name is Ms. Barlow at Saint Alcuin. She is older - I am guessing late 50s. She has short gray hair, she is a bit stoic and serious. I asked you in the car today after school, "Are Ms Elizabeth and Ms Barlow different, and you said, "Yes." Then, I asked you how they were different. You said, "Well Mamma, Miss Elizabeth has long flowing blond hair and Miss Barlow has short, gray hair." SWEAR! You said this. Are you some kind of brilliant child? You answer like a little man, not like a little boy. You are so perceptive! How do you even know these things?

I love you my perceptive baby love, Mamma

Mark's 50th Surpise Birthday Party

September 17, 2011

One of Daddy's best friends, Mark Ferguson, had a surprise 50th birthday party. The theme was the early 60s. Daddy and I went to a vintage shop (you came with us) and picked out these costumes. I was in a velvet red jumpsuit - a girl from the 60s - maybe like Elizabeth Hurley in Austin Powers (you will be way to young to have any clue what that movie is), or Cher? Daddy was a 60's guy - maybe like a 60's Arnold Palmer, who incidentally won the Masters in 1961 - the Daddy and Mark Ferguson were born.

God Stay in Here With Me...

September 18, 2011

Tonight, when you went to bed, you were saying prayers with Daddy and you said,
"Jesus take care of Mommy and Daddy, God stay in here with me." Such a beautiful and sweet thing to ask for Hudson.

Lately, you have been a bit scared. You tell us there is a monster in your room and we tell you there is no such thing. You yell my name every 5 minutes and say, "Mommy, check on me in 5 minutes. MOMMY! Check on me in 5 minutes!!" You want a light on, so we dim the light to the lowest level. .... My baby love, it is ok to be scared sometimes and I can sympathize more than you will ever understand. However, I truly hope for you that you are not a generally scared person. Your Mommy was scared for so much of her life until I had you, and then, I realized there was nothing to be scared of!! Sure, there will be things that scare you here and there - that's life, but don't be afraid of the dark my love. You are never alone. God and Jesus are always with you and Mommy and Daddy are always close by. I tell you every night, "Mommy is never far away." The dark is a beautiful thing. It is the time of day when the moon comes out and shines over Earth and sends you beautiful dreams and sweet love. The moon is our friend. We talk to him often and you love him very much. How could he come out if there was no darkness?

We love you amore mio! Mommy and Daddy

"I can see, and that is why I can be happy, in what you call the dark, but which to me is golden. I can see a God-made world, not a man made world."

9-11-11 NEVER FORGET

9-11-11

Today was September 11th. On this day, America remembers and people shed tears and fears about a day that was tremendously sad for all who lives in this country. We will never forget what happened 9-11-01. We will never forget the lives taken, the sadness, and the fear. Daddy and I watched a lot about it all day and a 9-11 special tonight. It tore me up. It gives me shivers down my spine, my stomach starts to hurt and tears roll down my eyes watching the coverage - even 10 years later. I know Daddy was feeling the same way. Watching those buildings crumble in lower Manhattan is tortuous to this day. Mommy lived in downtown, in TriBeCa, a few blocks from Ground Zero for many years, however, I moved to NYC in 2002, a year after 9-11. But every time I walked by Ground Zero, it mad me terribly sad to think that those powerful twin towers once stood where a hole now was. I tried to imagine what the sky line looked like with the twin towers shooting out towards the sky. Why did this happen? It is still so hard to process. I remember where I was the morning it happened. I remember driving home from Arizona for 15 hours the next day because I wanted to see Siti and hug her and be with her. Siti and I laid in bed for 2 hours in shocked disbelief and fear, doing nothing but watching the news coverage.

I cannot imagine the mental anguish that families who lost loved ones go through on a daily basis. God Bless America, God bless New York City, God bless the souls who lost their lives, and God Bless those families who lost loved ones on that tragic day.

I was watching some of the coverage in the morning and you kept asking me, "Why are those people sad Mamma?" I said because they got a big boo boo. You asked how. I told you that they were hurt in a building fire. So, we decided to draw a picture for Amy. I told you that her brother was hurt. Amy Rice is one of mommy's dearest friends. I have known her since grade school. Her brother died on 9-11. God bless Amy and her family.

I love you my love,
Mamma

Adventure Walk with Daddy

Sept 4, 2011

You, Daddy, Codi and Gracie go on long adventure walks in the park on St John's in Highland Park on Turtle Creek.  It's an amazing creek.  It goes for a long time and.  You all put on your rain boots and walk all the way through the creek all the way to this huge tunnel, which you walk through.  Sometimes you talke your head lamp.  You all have so much fun!

Daddy loves these walks with you!!
