Hudson's Front Tooth and The Dentist

August 2012

Hudson,

The first day I came home from the hospital after having John Henry, the veneer on your front tooth fell out. As if we didn't have enough going on- We were new to Old Greenwich, we were in a new house, we had a new baby. You were running around the house playing with Ella and Karli (Anni came to visit), and you ran into Brad and your veneer fell out.

Let me explain. When you turned 3, I took you to the dentist for your first routine teeth cleaning. It turned out that your front tooth had an abscess, much to my dismay! You had to have it removed and while you were under they took an impression of your teeth and made an appliance (veneer) and put it in. You never even knew you had it and you never even knew you had surgery. So you were freaked out when it fell out. You had no idea what had happened and it scared you. Ella thought it was cool because losing a tooth means you are getting older. You were crying and upset and I was already hormonal and I was so upset too!

To make a long story short. I finally found a dentist and your teeth had already moved. They could not put the original appliance back in, so he was going to make a new one. You completely freaked out when he tried to make an impression of your teeth- you were crying and scared. He couldn't do it. I felt horrible for putting you through it! He said, "Look, he doesn't have to have this done. This is an aesthetic thing at his point. He can go without a front tooth until the other one grows in." I had to put all my feelings aside and realize this is about my baby! Not me! It was just hard to see your beautiful smile lose a tooth and know it would be years before another tooth would grow in. So, that's the story of your front tooth being gone very early. People walk up to you now and say, "Wow, you already lost a tooth!" And now, I think you're smile is freaking more adorable than ever and you are more handsome than ever and I would not change it! It's so no big deal and you will get your permanent tooth soon enough. My sweet Hudson, this is the perfect story for you - you always take the road less traveled. You are only a little boy once. I love you handsome! Mamma

Petting Tank at Tod's Point Beach

Hudson,

I took this some time in August 2012. Henry was asleep in the stroller right next to you. This was at Tod's Point beach. There is a mini science museum right off the beach. We went inside after you held this horseshoe crab at the petting tank and there was one tiny room, and you were like, "Is this it? Let's go.". Oh goodness, you are use to everything being big like Texas! Uh oh!

Daddy and John Henry

Sept 2012

Here are a few sweet pictures of Daddy and John Henry. Many people are telling us that JH looks like his Daddy. JH, you did get fair skin and blue eyes like Daddy and Hudson has dark eyes and olive skin like my family, however, if you put your pictures side to side when Hudson was a baby, you all look alike!

Today, Mamma did what she always does. I Googled and found us something fun to do. I threw Hudson and JH in the car and we headed to the zoo in Bridgeport. It was a decent enough zoo. It was sweet. We had fun as we always do. Saw foxes, groundhogs, a tiger and much more!

Field Station Dinosaurs! Awesome Dino Exhibit!

October 2012

Today, we went to Hudson's dream land! We went to Field Station Dinosaurs in Secaucus, NJ. It was such a blast to see your face when we walked in. The animatronic dinosaurs were HUGE. It's truly a fantastic exhibit. We saw so many dinosaurs and a great T Rex feeding show. When you saw T Rex, you got so excited, "T REX!!!!" There were about four T Rex's and you could see the empire state building behind one if them. It was awesome. It was a great pleasure to take my Hudson there!! You truly love dinosaurs and are intrigued and fascinated by them. You know more about dinosaurs than most adults.

ROAR!!

I love you, Mamma

Adventure Walk w/ Daddy, Gracie and Codi

October 2012

You and Daddy have found a place to take adventure walks. I actually Googled hiking places in Greenwich and I picked a great trail, the Mianus, one weekend. It's a great place to hike- seems like your in the woods in CO. You and Daddy have been going more often and taking the dogs. You all have a great time together. You all had a lot of adventure walks with the dogs in Dallas in Highland park and now you have a new place. I know Daddy really enjoys this time with you. I went last week and you showed me a cave you as Daddy had found. You were so excited about it. The adventure of life continues!

Playing Pirates!

October 2012

Arg matey! Land ho! Swab the decks! Walk the plank! A fun game of pirates with my babies. Hudson, we have played pirates 100s of times. On playgrounds, in the house, in the backyard, on the trampoline, everywhere! You have been into pirates for awhile, and I assume most little boys get into them at some time. Now, Henry can play with us! He's your first mate!

Hudson Rides a Bike w/ No Training Wheels!!

Hudson,

What?!? So, it doesn't matter that we are your Mommy and Daddy and
we think you are amazing. You are 4.5 years old. How many 4.5 year old's can ride a bike with no training wheels? How many 4.5 years olds have the will or the courage to grab the bike with no training wheels, hop on it and say, "I want I ride this bike." "Let's go," we say! Daddy got behind you and ran down the driveway with you on the bike and when he let go, you didnt fall. Daddy and I looked at one another like, "Wow." Then, Daddy did it again - he ran behind you, holding the bike, faster and faster, he let go and you kept going. I swear we couldn't believe it!! Oh Hudson, the smile on your face! You were so proud and we were so proud of you- or in awe of you. I was holding John Henry jumping and up and down, saying "That was amazing baby! You did it!" The thing is, it's really so you to decide to do something and just do it and only Daddy and I can really comprehend that. You are such a determined little boy. You remember that when you are older. The kids across the street, Caroline (6) and Jack (10) were in the driveway watching with their mom who was dumbfounded. Her little girl is 6 and can't ride without training wheels. NOT that it's a competition because it isn't, but you are so amazing Hudson! You have always always been advanced for your age and anyone who has ever met you has noticed this.

Use your skills and your intelligence wisely my love and always always always eat your humble pie.

We love you! Our super boy!!!! 4.5 years old!
