Daddy in D.C.

June 13, 2011

Hudson,

Daddy is traveling in Washington D.C. for business. He is doing work for the Gannett Company, who publishes the USA Today newspaper. Daddy is doing a project with USA Today Sports. He had dinner in Georgetown tonight with two men who work with him on this project, Tom Beusse (an old friend of Daddy's) and Jonathan Marshall. Right now, they are walking around D.C. at night. Daddy is emailing me pics - he took some great shots of the Washington Monument and The Lincoln Memorial. D.C. is a special place. It's where all our national laws are made and where congress and the president reside. The architecture in D.C. reminds me of Europe. I love that about D.C. One night, your Uncle Vic and I walked all over D.C. and drank red wine and chatted. It was a special night. I bet Daddy is having fun!

xoxo Mamma

*Fun Fact: The District of Columbia was named after the great explorer Christopher Columbus.

Hudson, The Adventurer

June 12, 2011

Hudson,

Before you were born, I was looking for different boys names on the Internet. I knew I like Hudson the most, because the Hudson River is so special to me. One site said that your name meant "Charismatic Adventurer." I told Daddy that and we both liked the name even more. I will say that you have lived up to this definition so far. You are fearless and will do most anything. Sometimes, it makes me a nervous wreck, but all in all, I am glad that you are so adventurous. I want you to always be adventurous, but to also be smart as well. Whenever you are about to do something you feel you should back down from, think to yourself, "Would my Mamma worry? Would My Mamma approve?"

I want you to know that being adventurous doesn't always mean being dangerous. Adventurous could be trying a new language, immersing yourself into another culture, traveling to a far away city, talking to a person you wouldn't normally talk to, helping a friend, helping someone less fortunate than you, or volunteering. Remember, make good decisions, do the right things and and good things will come to you my love.

I love you my adventurer.

Hudson, Charismatic Adventurer

Mavericks vs Heat - Game 3 of NBA Finals

Hudson,

Daddy and Mamma went to Game 3 of the NBA Finals to see the Dallas Mavericks play the Miami Heat. It was so much fun and exciting to be there. For the Mavericks, they are the underdogs and they are chasing their first NBA championship and Dirk Nowitzki his first ring. I really want him to get it - he is one of my favorite players. For the Heat - they are the best team in the NBA with Lebron James and Dwayne Wade in their pocket. They have been expected to win it all since the beginning of the season, especially with the acquisition of James.

The Mavericks almost pulled another miracle comeback, but lost to the Heat 88-86. Heat now up 2-1 for the series. Dirk was amazing with 34 points and 11 rebounds, however, he missed a fade away shot in the final seconds to tie the game. It was so sad!

LeBron James didn't have a great - 17 points and just took three shots in the 4th quarter. But, wade was awesome with 29 points and he scored 7 of Miami's final 9 points.

It was a great game, but heartbreaking to see the Mavs lose after such a tough fight. It was very cool to see some great NBA super stars who will be in the hall of fame, however, they will be old to you by the time you are 10!

xoxoxo Mamma

Mavericks leave these t-shirts on everyone's chairs. If you don't wear one, they will point you on the big screen and ostracize you!

Working out with Daddy

June 2011

Hudson,

You and Daddy have weights in the dog house. Sometimes, you all go in the back yard and work out. It's the cutest. You bring your little weights to the grass and lift them up and down. When Daddy asked you if you wanted to work out today, you said, "Ok, but I left my muscles in the dog house." Is that the cutest? I could just freeze time you are so precious!

xoxoxo Daddy and Mamma love you strong boy!

Siti here for my Bday & Maverick's Playoff Game

June 5, 2011

Hudson,

Siti came to visit! She brought you some candy and me a birthday cake. I think you associate Siti with food and candy. When you hear she is coming, you get very excited and also ask, "Is she bringing me candy?" Of course she always does and the cake she brought was so yummy and moist!

Siti came for my birthday and so she could stay with you while Mommy and Daddy went to the Maverick's Heat playoff game (see other post). You and Siti stayed up and watched TV in our bed. You were awake when we came home! You seem to always stay up late with Siti and lay in bed with her. It's very cute actually. Daddy and I had a blast at the game - saw some great players play some hoops.

The next day we went took Siti to Teddy Bear park and she watched you climb all over your favorite teddy bears. We had a great time with Siti - we always do! Siti loves you so much!

I love you amore mio, xoxo Mamma

Graduation from Aquatots!

June 2, 2011

Hudson, today you graduated from your swim class at Emler Swim School. You were in the aquatots level and now you can move up. You got a ribbon and a t-shirt. Daddy and I are so very proud of you. I wish I could put the video I took of you on this page. You can swim for 10 seconds under water. You swim almost half the length of the pool. This is amazing for a kid who just turned 3. I am so proud of you. Hudson, you know no fear. You are one fearless little man. You just jump right in the pool and you always have. You have never had fear of water. I will say, you had one class where you were a little scared, but that is only because you are so aware and so smart Hudson. You knew the water was deep and that your teacher, Mr. Reed, was going to make you put your eyes down and swim. You knew that you couldn't touch the ground, but this is a great thing for you to learn. You didn't want to go to swim class that morning, but I told you that swim class was a rite of passage. I told you that I had to learn to swim and so did Daddy - you had no choice and this is one thing that you had to learn. I also told you that you could be like a fish and we could have under water swimming races when you learned to swim. This got you excited. You quickly got over that one fearful day. I told daddy that it was almost nice to see a little fear in you because you will do just about anything.

We read the Froggy books by Jack London. You think Froggy is so funny and he is! There is one called "Froggy Learns to Swim." In the book, Froggy is scared to swim and he tells his mamma that he can't swim. She tells him that's nonsense and that frogs are natural born swimmers. She teaches him to swim and uses a phrase called "Bubble bubble, toot toot, chicken, airplane, soldier." It's so sweet. I refer to froggy a lot and tell you that you will learn to swim just like froggy.

You are going to be a great swimmer! I know it. You already are and you are 3. You are a natural born swimmer Hudson.

I love you my little froggy, Mamma

You wear this swim shirt to every class. It is so precious. You are so handsome my love.
