Daddy at the MLB All Star Game

July 12, 2001

Daddy is in Phoenix, AZ for work/play. Daddy has a fun job, huh? Daddy has been working in the sports area for most of his life - many men would be envious. He has seen lots of big games. He was at the MLB All Star game tonight. He sent me lots of pics and said he had a great time. Daddy is a natural at sports and I think you will be too. Daddy also knows everything about sports - it's a little nuts. I think he should have been a coach or a sports commentator. He knows the penalty before the ref even says anything (especially during a football game).

Baseball is one of my favorite sports. Mommy use to know everything about baseball. I took a small hiatus on my baseball knowledge when I had you, my love, which is OK. I will always love baseball and I can get back into at any time. I still know more than most women! I think you would be a great baseball player. You always want to pitch, so hey, maybe you have an arm.

Baseball is like a religion to ball players. The players worship it - the field, the stadium, the grass, the bases, the bats, the gloves, the chew - and that's why I always thought it was so neat.

It's also a religion to the fans. Let's face it, baseball frequently provides a better experience for the faithful than going to expensive cathedrals and wondering why God must pay such high rents. You can see more men, women, and children praying at Yankee Stadium than you will see in most churches - die hard fans uttering such prayers as "Dear God, don't let Derek Jeter strike out." It's definitely a religion to many.

MLB 2011 All Star Game:
AL 1
NL 1
-Roy Halladay (Phillies) combined with nine relievers on a six-hitter in the NL's 5-1 victory.
-Prince Fielder (Brewers) had a 3-run HR and was named MVP of the game
-Derek Jeter (Yankees famed shortstop) didn't play because he wanted a break.

Daddy and his business peeps and buddies.

John and Maja Langbein - John is the reason Daddy and I met.
