Goodbye to St. Alcuin and Ms Barlow...

5-21-12

Hudson,

You went to a wonderful school in Dallas this last year, St. Alcuin Montessori.  It was tough at times - we had to be there every morning by 8 (got pink slips if we were late), Monday through Friday, and your teacher, Ms. Barlow was strict and rigid, but you loved her.  You really did.  You may have been a little scared of her at times (she was tough), but you respected her.  At one of the last parties of the year, you kept hugging on her legs.  She told me a few months ago that she loved you, and I said, "He loves you too," and she said, "I know, he tells me."   St. Alcuin was ranked one of the top private schools in Dallas so you are very fortunate to have spent a year there.  We want to continue your Montessori education in Connecticut, but this may be the end of the road.  There is no doubt that this year changed your life and though you will likely not remember it in years to come, Daddy and I will never forget it and how you grew into such a bog boy this year.

My email to Ms Barlow:

Hi Margaret,
If we were staying, I would be so sad to see you go,  but selfishly, now that we are leaving, I am happy for you!  Haha.  :)  I do feel sad for the kids in Hudson's class, because they will miss you so next year.  I am sure it will be exciting to be closer to your son and grand baby.

Thank you very much for all the work you have done with Hudson.  He has learned so much this year.   He is a better little guy because of you and he loves you very much.  I was hoping to get a picture of you two for Hudson's journal before the week is out,  but I know that will probably be rather difficult.  At least we have the class picture. We will miss you and Hudson will surely miss you and we hope you get to take Hearts with you (this is your horse, correct?  Hudson told us).  Also,  if you would like, send me your personal email and we can send you updates every once in awhile.
Thanks for everything!

Ms Barlow's response:
Thanks so much for your kind words.  Hudson is one of those little guys that
will always be in my heart......he has touched me so much.  He was so great
sharing his game today.....something that would have been so hard for him a
few months ago.  I wish you and your wonderful family nothing but the best,
you are all so wonderful together.  Happy baby to you too!  My email address
is margbarl@verizon.net.  I would love to hear from you over time.

Take great care of yourselves,
XXXXOOOOO  Margaret

You and Maja.  She was in your class and you all got along well.  She is 5.  This was at the end of the year splash party.

Below are pictures of your school and your classroom.  After the splash party, we took all these pictures.  Montessori classrooms are set up very meticulously and they all look similar.

(above 2 pics) In the Montessori environment, children do activities of every day life, such as window washing.  Here, you showed me how you clean windows and hang the towel up afterwards - too cute!`

(above pic) These squares are chimes.  When you walk on them, you can hear them chiming.  They are sun to jump on!

(Below 2 pics) This is you and your best buddy, Ben.  He is your age (Montessori classrooms are mixed and your class consisted of 3-6 year olds).  You all were at the school's International Festival.

(Below pic)  This is you with Ben and Lauren (both 4 like you).  You and Lauren have a history.  You are both very intelligent and articulate.  Ms Barlow says you both have been around adults a lot.  You all fought like cats and dogs for most of the first semester, and now, you all are great friends.  You use to get in the car after school so mad over her!  No joke.  I think she has a pretty big crush on you - and maybe you on her.  It's precious.  We had her over for a playmate the other day and you all played so well together.  She looks like a doll.

Another picture of sweet, sweet Lauren (below) - you all went on a play date at the park.
