Father's Day

June 19, 2011

Today we celebrated Father's Day. You helped me make Daddy a card yesterday and get his presents together. This morning, we brought Daddy a cup of coffee in bed. Then, you went and got all his presents. You walked in our room and said, "Happy Father's Day Daddy!!" You say it in the cutest, sweetest voice and I wish you could hear yourself talk at the age of three. Daddy and I always comment on your voice. It's the most precious little baby voice. So, then, you basically opened his presents. You get so excited about surprises and presents! You think they are all for you. We got Daddy a mini Foosball table (for both of you), some beautiful POLO shirts, and Hermes cologne. Daddy was happy. Then, I made you all turkey bacon, wheat pancakes and a fruit bowl. Then, we all went to church. You were so excited that I was going to church with you all. Usually, Daddy takes you and Mamma takes an hour and a half to relax.

We spent the rest of the day mostly relaxing at the home. It was 102 degrees here in Dallas and it's hard to do anything when it's that hot except go to the pool. However, you weren't feeling great so we opted out. We ended up going to a movie, 'Mr. Popper's Penguins', and you were happy as a clam while you ate Skittles and popcorn. The minute you were done, you said, "I'm finished, let's go." It was a cute movie, but just a little too grown up for you. It's funny, you either take to a movie immediately or you don't.

My sweet baby went downhill from there and you fell asleep in the car at 5pm. We put you in our bed and you slept until 6:30. You rarely sleep at 5 like that. I can't remember the last time that happened. You woke up burning up. I gave you some medicine and you took a shower with Daddy. Afterwards, you said, "I don't want to watch TV. Can we just go to bed?" Off to bed you went. I pray my baby wakes up feeling better. I felt so bad for you my baby. I wish I could take your sickness and put it in me!

Daddy and I hung out, drank wine, ate shrimp and played Yahtzee while you napped. We had so much fun! We all had a nice day for Father's Day!

I wish my Daddy, your Gidi, was here to meet you. He would eat you up. He was colorful just like you. I think about him today and I wish I could hug him.

Happy Father's Day to your Daddy, to your Gidi and to your Big John.

xoxo I love you amore mio, Mamma

My precious baby sleeping in our bed. You are an angel here on Earth.

This is one of the POLO shirts we gave Daddy for Father's Day. Daddy looked very handsome in this blue one.

Petting Zoo in Long Island - White Post Farms

July 19, 2012

Today, Mamma, who is 39 weeks pregnant with your baby brother took you to a petting zoo on Long Island.  We had so much fun.  I should probably have stayed close to home in case I went into labor, but that's not your Mamma.  We had laid in the apartment for about 5 straight hours yesterday and I knew we had to get out (although we walked 14 blocks in the rain yesterday after laying in the bed for 5 hours - I'm crazy).  Mamma does not sit still well.  As I got on the LIE and saw the traffic coming back, I thought " I really hope I don't go into labor because I am going to be in some nasty traffic on the way back!"  It was so worth it.  This was the cutest petting zoo.  You rode a horse named Cisco, we fed goats, camels, cows, llamas, pigs and zebras.  I couldn't believe how many animals were at this sweet little farm.  We also went inside the bird cage to feed the birds and they attacked us!  You dropped your stick with bird seed and we ran out.  We both laughed afterwards!

I love you sweet baby

Pajama Party Night at NY Kids Club Camp

July 13, 2012

Tonight, there is a pajama party at your camp in NYC, NY Kids Club. The theme is super heroes. You were so excited, you were running out the door! You absolutely love your camp and you love love the camp coaches. They are all young girls and that's probably why. You certainly like girls. What am I going to do?! Goodness! Two of them have babysat for you - Coach Ashley and Coach Christi. When they come over, you are beyond excited. The camp has been a God send. I'm just thrilled you love it. Knowing your happy when you go there is so comforting to my heart. When you're happy, I'm happy. Plus, the camp has given me some relief during the last month of my pregnancy.

I love you amore mio, my heart,
Mamma

A Day in Chinatown...

July 12, 2012

So, Mamma, who is 38 weeks pregnant, braved the heat with my baby and we adventured into Chinatown.  We took the subway down to Brooklyn Bridge in TriBeCa and walked to Chinatown.  We stopped at a great park on the way and you had fun playing while I sat in the shade.  Then, we walked to the Chinatown Fair.  There is a lot of history at this place and it just reopened in 2011.  We had so much fun and played all the games.  You won 400 tickets two times in a row on this spinning shell pirate game.  You were so excited and I was so excited for you!   You love going to game places - Mamma does too.  I love games!  Uncle Rhoni and I grew up playing games non stop.

I love you amore, Mamma

First Haircut in NYC at Sharkey's - Let Other's Compliment You Always...

July 11, 2012

Hudson,  it is true.  You have the most gorgeous hair and it is so hard for Mamma to cut it.  People always compliment your hair and so you know it is beautiful.  Just remember my love, always let people compliment you.  I do not ever want to hear, "I am so handsome," or "People think I am so handsome," or "People always tell me I have great hair."  You let others compliment you and you simply say in a humble way, "Thank you," and remember to compliment others.  No one likes a braggart.... Anyway - Mamma just went off on a tangent - Anyway, you have amazing hair and it is pretty much your signature trait and has been since you were a baby.  It's always longer and bushy and it looks amazing.   So, I had not cut you hair in like 3- 4 months.  It was really long and it was time.  It was in your eyes.  I was unsure where to take you in NYC.  The same lady from Dallas, Ms Michelle, has been cutting your hair since you were like 18 months.  I took you to Sharkey's on 2nd Avenue.  The girl there, Emma, gave you the best haircut!  I was so excited.  She made it look natural and not freshly cut.  I think she did a better job than Ms Michelle.  So, maybe we will just keep coming to Sharkey's in NYC - we need lots of excuses to come into the city when we move to CT.

I love you my Samson,
Mamma

A note on Samson, a character in the Bible: Samson's mother received a visit from an angel, who told her she would give birth to an unusual son, a Nazirite, and not to cut his hair.  Samson fell in love with Delilah.  She found out that he had great strength because he had never cut his hair.  She told the leaders of the Philistine nation who cut his hair while he was sleeping.  Mamma's Moral:  be careful who you fall in love with and don't ever let anyone take your strength from you.

Grand Central to Westchester

July 8, 2012

Today, we got on the Metro North Train from Grand Central Station and met Daddy at his club in Bronxville, Westchester.  You love riding the train.  This is your second time on the Metro North Train.  You have ridden the subway many times and when I took you on the Metro North for the first time, I said, "This is your first train ride!"  You said, "No, it's not Mamma.  I ride the subway all the time."   Then, I said, "You are right.  This is your first above ground train."  Such a New Yorker already!

I love riding the train with you and just watching you look out the window amore,  Mamma

The Oklahoma City Thunder on The Olympic Team

July 11. 2012

James Harden, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.
They all play for the Oklahoma City Thunder.  LOVE THEM!  They all made the USA Olympic Basketball Team for the 2012 Summer Olympics, which start on July 27, 2012, baby boy Squires' due date!  It's so awesome!  Those three young men have worked hard.  They took the Thunder to the NBA Finals against the best team in basketball, The Miami Heat, and they played their heart outs.

Oklahoma City is very special to your Mamma.  I was born and raised in Oklahoma.  I grew up there when their were no pro teams.  We stole pro teams from other states.  When I first moved to NYC, lots of my friends called me "Okahoma."  So, when the Thunder came along, I was an instant fan.  I love this team and these guys.  They have done so much for Oklahoma.  The city is forever changed because of them and this team.

GO THUNDER!  GO USA!

Moving - In Transit - Visit to Oklahoma City

June 1- June 6 2012

After our visit to Shreveport, we went to see Mamma's family in Oklahoma City.  We had a nice, long stay and got to spend quality time with my family.  We had so much fun!  You and Bailey played and played.  You get along so well and you all really love one another.  It is so sweet!  You all can grow up together and watch out for one another.  Your cousin Bailey has the sweetest, most kind disposition.     You got to sleep with Siti every night and you love that because you all stay up late and watch TV.  We went to an arcade place one day and you and Bailey played all the games and split lots of the tickets.  She had an easier time sharing the tickets than you my love.  Sharing is something you are still working on, but you are getting much better.  Tip: always share with girls.  In fact, give them what they want.  Girls are flowers and deserve to be treated as such.

We also took you all to White Water Park and it was a blast.  You rode the big slides this time, not the kid ones.  Mamma rode many with you which was a bit crazy 8 months pregnant!   You had a blast and so did Bailey.  We also went to Uncle Rhoni's one night and watched the Oklahoma City Thunder game.  You and Bailey had an egg hunt and we put chocolate and money in the eggs.  It was a great trip to OKC.  Uncle Rhoni got me a birthday cake and I blew out the candles.  Yes, my birthday passed right through this move.  You and Siti woke up early on my birthday morning and got me yellow sunflowers and a cake.  It was so sweet and made my morning  I am very sad that we are moving far away from my family, but they will always come visit us and we will always go visit them.  Your Sisi is very sad that we are moving far too.  She loves you so much and this move has been emotional for her.  You never know, we may all be living closer together one day.

xoxo
