Moving - In Transit - Visit to Shreveport

May 28 & 29 2012

After the move out of our house in Dallas and staying at the Four Seasons for 4 days, we went to Shreveport to see Daddy's family.  You had a great time!  You played and played with Squires and Jackson.  You still think Jackson is the greatest.  Squires threw you really high in the pool and you thought that was awesome.   Aunt Shannon, Squires, Jackson and Jackson's friend, Daniel, took you to the Science museum.  You had such a blast with Squires and his sweet friend, Daniel, who is so nice to you.  You got this yellow bracelet that you would not take off from the museum.  You spent the night at Aunt Shannon's the first night and watched TV with her and got to stay up late.  You loved that.  Then, you spent the night with Big John and SuSu the second night.  They loved being with you and spending quality time with you.  Big John let you get all his knives out.   I walked in and they were all on the floor and you were just staring at them.  You think his collections of guns and knives are beyond cool.  You just have to always be careful with them!  Daddy got Mommy a hotel room and I got to sleep in both nights and get some Mommy time.  This was super great for pregnant Mommy.  We will miss being close to Daddy's family, but they will come visit and we will too.

xoxo

Hunting Gear from Scotty, Squires & Jackson

December 25, 2012

Scotty, Squires and Jackson gave you this hunting gear for Christmas. It was their old gear. You thought it was pretty cool and put the waders and hat on. You did look so cute. You think guns are pretty cool, much to my dismay. I guess I couldn't stop it. You are a boy. You all find them somehow. You will use sticks if you don't have toy ones. I am getting better with the whole notion. Somehow, I thought I could keep them away - HAHA. Can I say, what silly thinking of me!

Personally, guns are not my favorite. You say you are going to hunt someday "like Jackson." You were at the farm and you saw him kill a bird and I think that was confusing for you. You kept asking me why he did that and that you wanted to do it because he did. I am not sure killing animals is in your nature. You seem somewhat sad and conflicted about it. I am not even sure it's in your Daddy's nature. He has been hunting, but not a lot. However, if it is something you are truly interested in someday, I won't keep you from it. Daddy can teach you the proper way and train you - that's the only way I will allow it. I probably won't be able to keep you away from hunting, especially with Daddy's side of the family being hunters. Look, some people do it as sport and to each their own, but personally, I don't see what a person gains by killing another animal, but that's me...

I love you, Mamma

A Look Back - Crested Butte Summer 2010

Hudson,

These pictures are from our Crested Butte trip last summer. You were 2 years and 3 months old. We went to see a live band and you had a blast. I remember the night well. You were precious! You stood and stared at the band for a long time. You danced and danced too. You loved it. You were so into music at the age of 2 - I mean obsessed! Very incredible for a baby of 2 years.

You also followed Jackson around everywhere. You had so much fun rolling around in the grass with him. You were both so sweet.

Christmas 2010 Shreveport

Hudson,

Here are some pictures from Christmas time in Shreveport. We had a lot of fun. The first night we went to Uncle Scott's farm and you had a blast. You loved feeding the horses, helping Squires chop wood, riding the the 4-wheeler with Squires and Jackson and running all over the place getting muddy and being a boy. It was fun to watch! You followed Jackson everywhere and if you didn't see him, you would ask, "Where's Jackson?" You love him and he is so sweet to you. You totally get that he is the youngest. It's so fascinating. You don't pay as much attention to Scotty now because he is like one of the adults. Fascinating!

The first morning you held Squires and Jackson hostage in Squires' room. You set up a drum set with random things around Squires' room -pencils for drumsticks, a lamp shade for a cymbal and a pen holder for the tom drum. The i-pod was turned up and you were jamming out. They were amazed that you set up a makeshift drum set, that you love music the way you do and that you know all the words to popular radio songs. You performed for them. You are a ham. I said, "He does this everyday."

We had Christmas dinner at Big Jon and Sue Sue's and you followed Jackson everywhere. You, Squires and Jackson had a major sword fight with the card board wrapping paper tubes. You loved it and were a little aggressive little man! You wanted to eat at the adult table for Christmas dinner, but when Jackson sat at the little people's table, you were ok with it. You were quiet during grace and made prayer hands.

You spent the night with Big Jon and Sue Sue and you had a lot of fun with them the next morning. They love you and ate you up!

Big Jon donated his time and painted a mural on the wall for the Veteran's homeless center. It was an amazing mural and we are all very proud of him. We went to see it on the way out of town.

You love Jackson and followed him everywhere. You laid in the hammock with him and looked
at him adoringly. So sweet!

Your makeshift drum set in Squires' room. Hudson, you can make a drum set out of anything! It's fantastic! I love your imagination and your love of music.

Dada gave Nana this silly hat! She actually put it on. She was a great sport. She is 94! Your Daddy was named after her husband, Merrill, and you have his middle name.
