So, you are in this phase where you play games before night night. Let me explain. We say prayers, lay in bed, kiss and hug, and I say "I love you. Night Night." Right when I leave your room, before I even get to mine, you start, "Mamma, Mamma, Mamma, check on me," until you start crying if I don't come in. I will walk out and immediately before I even get to my room, it starts over. I think this is mostly a game because you don't do this when Annette is babysitting. There is some validity to it. I think you don't want to miss out on anything, I truly think you want to be where Mommy and Daddy are, and sometimes, I don't think you want to be alone. You also don't have Annette dim the lights when she is babysitting, but you make Mamma and Daddy dim the lights and keep them on. Are you manipulating us? Absolutely. Are we letting you? Basically. Why? Because we love you so much and you have us wrapped around you finger most of the time. However, by the 10th "Mamma, check on me, check on me, check on me," Mamma starts to get upset and this is when it usually ends. I have tried different tactics - not speaking after I say night night. Doesn't really work. I have told you that you have to nap after school if you play these games and it takes you too long to go to sleep. Doesn't work. I have told you that you would get a point if you would get in your bed and go to sleep. Doesn't work. You don't get out of your bed, so that's awesome and positive. You just scream my name for 30-45 minutes, sometimes an hour before you go to bed. If I don't come in after about 2-3 of the name calling, you will call "Daddy." Then, he will come in and you will say, "I want Mamma. Send Mamma in."
Tonight, you were screaming "check on me, Mamma, check on me," and I came in there and you said, "You don't want to check on me. It doesn't seem that you want to check on me." It doesn't "seem." You are too much Hudson!!!
I love you with all my heart. All the way to the moon and the outer galaxies.
xoxo
Remember, my love, you are so fortunate to have a comfortable place to lay your head, in a safe home with a Mamma and Daddy who love you. So many kids around this world, do not have any of these things. Cherish the time that you can get into your bed and have that time to yourself where you can unwind, relax, pray, get warm, cuddle with your pillows and get some Z's. One day, you will be older and you will know what I am talking about.
I am blogging for you my Hudson. I was writing a journal, but writing was wearing me out. So, I thought I would journal online. It's easier!

Your First Sleepover & Wesley
July 1, 2011
Hudson,
This summer you have a new friend, Wesley. Wesley is 11 years old and lives on the street adjacent to ours. He is a special little boy. He is extremely sweet, patient, giving and polite. Truly. You love Wesley for many reasons, one being that he is an older boy and you have always loved older children. Wesley is patient with you. This is not always easy with a 3-year-old who can get angry, irrational and throw tantrums, but he's patient. Sometimes he will come over and you will say, "I don't want to play with Wesley right now." Who knows why you say this, however, Wesley is so patient and waits for you to come around. Of course you do, quickly and you don't want him to leave. You have the best time with him. You all play dinosaurs, swords, jump on the trampoline and and he takes you for rides on the back of his bike.
Wesley came knocking at our door with his friend, Henry, a few months ago. They said they were looking to make extra money and asked if we had any jobs they could do. That's when they started coming over to play with you. Henry comes sometimes, but he spends more time at summer camp and traveling with his family, so you have spent most of the time with Wesley.
Wesley's grandmother was ill and his family came to live in her house and take care of her. She passed away and now they are living in her house - the house that is on Craigmont and basically right behind ours. Wesley is moving back to his house in 6 weeks, which is 30 minutes South of Dallas. We are so sad about this! Wesley's mom has breast cancer, God bless her. So, their family has gone through a lot in the last year. I think Wesley really enjoys coming to our house. We enjoy him so much! He has been a God send.
Last night, we asked Wesley to come have a sleep over. You were so excited! This was your first sleepover besides when Ella came to visit, but she slept with her Mommy in the guest bed room. This is the first time someone slept in the bottom bunk. You LOVED this! You all had so much fun. You stayed up until 10:30! I made you all popcorn and you watched a movie. You were diggin' this. Then, you all finally got in bed and it took you 30 minutes to wind down. You slept until 8:30 the next morning, which you never do. Mommy and Daddy were loving that. It was a special night with Wesley.
What I like most about Wesley is that he is a good example for you. I told him before he started coming over to play with you that he had to set a good example and he does! When you scream, he tells you not to. When you are not nice to Mommy or Daddy, he will say, "You can't talk to your Mom that way." He really is a sweet boy and we are so glad he came knocking on our door.
I love you baby. Mamma
