What is a 'Lover of the Light?'

March 11, 2013

So, I'm really into this Mumford and Sons song right now, "Lover of the Light."

I think you almost have to find your own meaning in this song. It's like a beautiful, dream-like song, and the way Marcus Mumford sings it with all that emotion and passion almost takes me to another place when I'm listening to it. What exactly is a "Lover of the Light?" Listen yourselves and you decide, and watch the video if you can find it.

A clip if the lyrics:

"I know I've tried I was not stable
And Flawed by pride, I miss my sanguine eyes
So hold my hands up
Breathe in and breathe out.

So love the one you hold
And I will be your gold
To have and to hold
A lover of the light..."

I love you boys! Always read the lyrics...

Don't Tell Me What I'm Gonna Be...

March 22, 2012

Hudson,
It's already started and you are not even 4 years old! You are one intelligent, independent, strong-willed hardheaded little boy- you're amazing!

So today, I kept singing this one song and a few other songs- pop/hip/hop songs from the radio. I would some linea and you would continue- you totally know the words- its amazing. You got that from your Mamma :). I said "You're going to be a great musician one day.... If you want to be." You said, "Mamma, don't tell me what I'm going to be. I will choose what I want to be when I grow up." Is this a 3 year old or a teenager speaking to me? Yes, my baby said this! You are a leader and a driver and a winner- that's 100% for sure! You are 3 years old! I swear you have always been a little man- you're beyond your years.

....And Hudson, you are a unique star and you can be anything you want to be- anything. I want you to know that it is absolutely your choice whatever you decide to be and do with your life and Daddy and I will always support and love you in whatever you decide to do with your beautiful life. All we want is to build your foundation- for you to know right from wrong and choose right, for you to be humble and kind and for you to help others.... The rest is up to you...

I love you little man, Mamma

Jamming Out...Your Love of Music...

Hudson,

You still love music and jamming out. YEAH! Mommy loves that, I have to admit. What would I do without music and lyrics? I missed my calling, but you have your whole life! Although I will never force you. I hope you continue with your love of music and instruments, but it has to be something you want.

We have been jamming out since you were a baby. It started with me carrying you and listening to loud music and dancing when you were just a wee babe - every single day! Some of the best days of my life!

You still LOVE LOVE LOVE the drums. Your instrument of choice. I put you in piano, but that was a little premature. You were only 3! You were not really into doing the homework, so we are taking a hiatus from that until you are about 4.5. The thing you liked the most about piano class were these 2 girls that also took piano, who you would see before your class. Your teacher was Mr. Mike and you really liked him too. I keep telling you it all starts with the piano. Start there and you will learn music theory and the backbone of what you will need to learn any instrument. I sure wish I would have learned piano when I was young.

Here is what's interesting. You are getting a bit frustrated with your drums. I think you are tired of just banging. Heck, you have the moves. I mean you are a great drummer for 3! You do this crossover with your sticks. It's awesome! However, you will throw them down and say, "I want to play different and I want bigger drums like they have in bands!" I say, "You mean you want to learn to play the drums." You say, "Yes, I do!" It's amazing. You are so smart. I tell you it will happen in due time. You have to keep your interest and be willing to practice and we will get you a big drum set. The funny thing is - You have the biggest drum set around for a 3 year old. You are something else my little rock star!!!

Remember this - You cannot get anywhere in life without practice and passion.

I love you my drummer, my rockstar, my 3-year-old musician,
Mamma
